2020 has been a tough year for a lot of reasons. Just making plans to get out of the house has become almost thrilling for many, but it’s hard to plan a trip around Charleston events right now. However, there’s good news for 2021: Not everything has been cancelled!


These Charleston, SC events are all still on the calendar for 2021. You’ll find seafood boils, 10K races, historic garden tours, and tons of ways to get out and take in the Charleston vibes.


Charleston Restaurant Week When: January 7th to 17th, 2021 Where: Participating restaurants around Charleston

Charleston Restaurant Week is a 10-day fine dining event in one of the best culinary destinations of the South. Plenty of local restaurants participate, offering prix fix meals at a discount. It’s a great way to sample the best of Charleston’s culinary scene.


The Lowcountry Oyster Festival When: January 31st, 10am to 5pm Where: Boone Hall Plantation



The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is a charitable event benefitting numerous South Carolina organizations, and it’s also the biggest oyster festival in the country. For a single afternoon in January, you’ll be treated to live music, shucking contests, catering by local restaurants, and great events for the kids.


Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) When: February 12th to 14th, 2021 Where: Downtown Charleston

The Southeastern Wildlife Expo is a three-day appreciation of all things outdoorsy and sportsmanlike. This event hosts gallery exhibitions by local artists, conservation talks, animal demonstrations, and a culinary aspect featuring wild game.


The Festival of Houses & Gardens When: March 11th to April 17th, 2021 Where: Downtown Charleston



The Festival of Houses & Gardens begins when spring is in bloom in Charleston. Enjoy wine tastings in grand private gardens, architecture tours, numerous outdoor events, and tales of the historic homes of the city told by knowledgeable guides.


Cooper River Bridge Run When: March 27th, 2021 Where: Begins in Mt. Pleasant and ends Downtown Charleston

The Cooper River Bridge Run is a 10K not only for serious runners but also for anyone just looking for a good time, so there’s usually quite a crowd in attendance. You can run or walk and enjoy the gorgeous view from the architecturally stunning Cooper Bridge. News on entry dates will be posted soon at the link above.


Volvo Car Open Tennis Tournament When: April 3rd to 11th, 2021 Where: Volvo Car Stadium

The Volvo Car Open boasts the largest prize of any female tennis tournament in the country. Held in state-of-the-art facilities on beautiful Daniel Island, this event attracts top names in women’s tennis.


North Charleston Arts Festival When: April 28th to May 2nd, 2021 Where: Participating venues throughout North Charleston, SC

The North Charleston Arts Festival will only run for five days this year but will still feature its fun mix of activities, performances, venders, and exhibitions. Many events will be held outdoors and the celebration ends with a concert and fireworks show.


The Spoleto Festival USA When: May 28th to June 13th, 2021 Where: Participating venues throughout Downtown Charleston

The Spoleto Festival USA is one of the most culturally rich arts festivals in the Southeast. Since 1977, Spoleto takes place in some of Charleston’s most beautiful and historic locations, featuring live performances by artists from all over the world.


Follypalooza When: October 2021 Where: Folly Beach, SC

Follypalooza is a charitable beach event that raises money for local cancer patients. One day a year, Folly Beach locals party for a good cause with so many events and venders that they have to close down Center Street. You’ll find plenty of live music on multiple stages, bouncy houses for the kids, and also tons of venders and lots of great food.
